At Gamma, we’re always thinking about what comes next
Businesses want to stay competitive, and it’s down to Gamma to keep delivering services that makes it possible. Those solutions, and their future development, only make up a part of the story. At the end of the day, trust and convergence are shaping how Gamma delivers meaningful outcomes.
This was precisely what Chris Wade (CMPO) and Alex Ayers (Sales Director) spoke about away from the stage at GX Summit 2025. Their conversation covered Gamma’s continuing drive to innovate and build lasting trust with customers. As needs evolve, Gamma must adapt to seize every opportunity and face every challenge that arises.
“A whirlwind 12 months”
Last year, Gamma’s brand evolved as “Good Together” came together. Alex, when looking over the last 12 months, feels that it has “gathered its own identity” as numerous examples of that mantra have emerged. For everyone, “Good Together” has its own meaning.
Chris has seen that phrase resonate with those Gamma works with, while also resonating with employees themselves. It’s an “amazing testament” to how it was built and constructed by listening to the community. “Good Together” has been amplified, and everyone has taken it to heart.
People aren’t being asked to behave differently – everyone is still themselves. We’re all looking to do the right thing in each situation, and that itself “builds… its own momentum.” Like a stone rolling down the hill, a simple phrase like that “carries the whole landscape with it.”
“We’re driving that convergence”
Launching Elements last year helped to bring Gamma’s portfolio “under one umbrella.” There’s now an incredible amount of convergence taking place, including between UCaaS and CCaaS. The same can be said between security and networking, which puts Gamma in an interesting position at this moment in time.
Chris sees this convergence happening with customers because “we’re driving it as individuals, not as Gamma.” Interactions are no longer just confined to a phone number – now, businesses must hit them with WhatsApp, emails, video calls. Customers want that all-encompassing experience, and businesses must consider this kind of combination.
It’s why networking and security have paired so nicely together. There’s a growing need to think about security posture before considering that information flow and how it reaches end points. These elements are naturally coming together and allowing Gamma to have richer conversations with customers.
More problems can be solved simultaneously, generating better outcomes and staying true to those long-term goals. Businesses are tending towards solutions that solve multiple problems, and it’s a “superpower” to solve two problems with one answer. Convergence is driven by the environment around us and technological evolution that’s creating new ways of thinking.
“Forging those partnerships”
Maintaining relationships is important on both the customer and vendor side. Alex sees Gamma as being the ones in the middle of it all. Helping customers get the most value from their investments on one side, and understanding what vendors have to offer on the other.
Gamma is in a unique position – there’s reach in the customer base, while hyperscalers see that promise of driving “meaningful performance change.” Chris stresses the importance of these partnerships, and how integral it is to work alongside people that can “take us furthest and farthest.” That focus itself brings a greater depth in that connection.
Being “Good Together” is certainly applicable to those partners as well. It’s important to be “at the table… advocating for our customers” and the future of an evolving market. From Gamma’s perspective, there’s a blend of strong assets that “make us… a valuable partner.”
“Creating those highly bespoke solutions”
Right now, there’s a lot of underlying tech change happening. The PSTN Switch-Off, for example, is “still a thing”, and work is being done on a fibre-based solution. Change is coming, but more and more businesses will be looking for “more connectivity… and more service.”
Cloud adoption is still on the rise, and employee productivity should always be a consideration for business leaders. Performance can be augmented with AI, but connectivity is critical when using services that need those more powerful connectivity capabilities. Bring in those security concerns, and suddenly there are so many solutions to consider.
For Chris, “Gamma’s going to be at the forefront of bringing those pieces together.” Working with partners like Cisco helps to create bespoke solutions for customers and bring a “uniqueness” to Gamma. You can buy solutions from anywhere, but you need someone who understands the business and can “make sure that those things come to life.”
It’s going to require a specific combination. Continuous work to bring products to life, investment from tech giants for those products, relevance to customers, and a wrap in that understanding of how the world is evolving. That’s the combination needed.
From that, we’ll see “strength in depth” and how those “services really come to the fore.”
“A huge vote of confidence”
That’s how Alex described Gamma’s move from the AIM to the FTSE 250. Having been at Gamma for a long time, this felt like one of those moments that truly mattered. It demonstrates to customers where Gamma is heading.
Chris has seen the diligence and hard work from colleagues in this process. This is more of a transformation than an evolution, as it now “creates a standard” for Gamma. Before the move, Gamma was holding itself to a high standard, but now there’s “external validation of it now.”
Again, it shows the direction in which Gamma is heading. There’s a clear demonstration of caring about the things that matter, including environmental impact and upholding societal value. Gamma now has access to “different… larger pools of capital” and a greater commitment to customers.
The move is a testament to the strength of where’s Gamma been in the past. There’s a stronger legacy for the future, and future customers will see how Gamma has been able to “meet that standard.”
“It’s a journey”
The promise Gamma makes to customers is rooted in that “bedrock of trust.” When looking to future editions of GX Summit, how can “trust” be applied to different solutions and markets? In fact, how can Gamma challenge itself to make it even better next year?
The promise and standard that’s set is “almost bound by an inherent dissatisfaction.” There are always areas to improve upon – always ways to find those “logical combinations” behind that convergence. Businesses come to GX Summit with their own goals in mind, and it’s down to Gamma to help fulfil them.
Whether it’s a local business or a hyperscaler, a customer or a prospect, it’s all about taking that exceptional experience and adding that “individualistic relevance.” Again, “trust” means something different in a networking sense compared to one in customer experience. It’s not a criticism from Chris, but rather a nod to refining that content and connecting these experiences “more directly to individuals.”
There’s a standard to maintain, and Gamma is up for the challenge!
“Always of the moment”
For Chris, the time and effort behind GX Summit “always shines through.” The topics discussed, including cyber security and the power of AI, are always timely and have a high impact. You only need to see the recent difficulties high street retailers have had around hacking…
GX Summit is about “creating real events that touch real people.” The efforts made by those setting it up, right through to the sessions and energy in the room, means that this really was the biggest GX ever. The “enthusiasm [and the] power of people” means that GX is “an inspiring place to be.”
As Chris rightly says, “Gamma’s nothing without its customers.” An event like GX Summit must give customers something to think about when they leave. When they exit that auditorium, attendees leave “with a little bit extra than they came in with.”
It all comes down to the customers and the stories they want to tell.
